Count every device
on the drawing.

Exactly, from the geometry the CAD file already carries.

Upload a vector plan set. planreviews.ai finds the symbol legend, learns each device from its own drawing, counts every copy across every sheet, and exports Bluebeam-compatible counts with a cover page and a device table.

How it works

Three steps, one sheet set

The whole flow runs against the PDF's vector paths. Nothing is rasterized to guess at, and nothing needs training data from your drawings.

Upload the plan set

Drop a vector PDF. Pages render as previews, and the geometry of every sheet is read once in the background so the first count is fast.

Scan from the legend

The legend table is located on its own, each symbol cell becomes a device definition, and every copy is counted across the ticked sheets. Missed one? Draw a box around it on the plan and it becomes a row.

Review and export

Step through matches, add or remove with the cursor, let the AI double-check any row, then export a PDF with count markers, a cover page and a placed device table that opens in Bluebeam or Adobe.

Features

Built around how plans are actually drawn

Real sets are messy: letters drawn as strokes, dashed variants, devices stacked on wires, legends lettered in a different style than the floors. The matcher has rules for each of them.

Legend detection

Finds the symbol table even when it has no heading, reads each cell as a device, and names rows from the legend text with one AI call.

Define any symbol

Drag a box around a device on the sheet and every matching copy is counted. Redefine a legend row from a plan copy when the legend drawing differs.

Counts per sheet

Tick the sheets that count. Riser and detail pages stay out, and every total, marker and export follows the selection live.

AI verification, opt-in

Claude judges each match against its legend symbol, rejects text and table cells that only look like devices, and remembers its verdicts so a re-check costs nothing.

Review tools

Arrow through every match, restore or remove with one key, add a count at the cursor. Clusters, dashed variants and wire-through devices are handled by the matcher, not by you.

Bluebeam-compatible export

Count markers as real annotations with opacity that renders in Bluebeam and Adobe, an optional cover page per device and per sheet, and the device table as a placed stamp or an Excel file.

Why vector

No pixels to guess at

A CAD-exported PDF still contains every circle, hexagon and letter stroke as geometry. Reading it directly is exact where image recognition is approximate.

  • Shapes are matched by their contour descriptors, so a device is recognised whether it is rotated, mirrored or lettered in a different text style than the legend.
  • Layout rules keep precision high: a match must reproduce the symbol's parts in the symbol's arrangement, with the right letter count, inside the right container.
  • Position is exact, so exported markers land on the device and per-sheet totals reconcile against the drawing.
  • Scanned or rasterized sheets are detected and can fall back to an AI pass instead of failing silently.
